How We Work

ipVA's consultants build IP strategies across businesses large and small in a variety of industries.

Approach

Our services and products are commercial, relevant and transparent. In reporting we work on a business principle of IP Clarity™, aiming to provide our clients with a new way of understanding and communicating their IP position across all five of our IP focus areas.

In every project, we start by asking the question: “Can we make a difference?”

From our projects our work has been described as proactive, persistent, educational, clear, business focussed and honest.

We tend to avoid seeking PR for our direct client work. But, where it has been successful our clients do say good things about us, like this:

"ipVA worked with us over a period of 18 months and with their help we developed a true understanding of our IP assets and built our IP strategy. Their work positioned us very well for our sale to Nokia-Siemens Networks and really impressed our board. They are different and I'd recommend their business led approach to IP to any early stage or growth company."

Andrew Wyatt, formerly Chief Products and Operations Officer, Apertio Limited.

Or this:

“ipVA have just done a great job in the Intellectual Property dimension for one of my companies. They're now engaging with others in my portfolio and that's being driven by me simply because of the initial experience. I cannot speak highly enough of what they did and how they did it. They are world-class.”

Mike Briercliffe, Serial Entrepreneur , NED and Chairman

Terms

Our fee and other terms are transparent and open. We do not bill like a law firm (because we aren't one) and do not engage in hourly billing. We prefer to work on fixed or project fees rather than daily rates (though happy to do day rates if requested), and can also work on terms that reward us for the value that we add (whether as a fee or in equity). Our clients will find us open and willing to discuss a variety of engagement structures.
