Martin Howard joins ipVA team as a licensing and IP strategy consultant

ipVA is pleased to welcome Martin Howard to the ipVA team as an IP licensing strategy consultant with specialist experience in building international licensing businesses. Martin comes to ipVA with many years experience in technology commercialisation, licensing and IP management, much of which was gained in senior management positions at BP. He held several board positions within BP and was heavily involved in global technology research and development, licensing, process definition, project management, and commissioning of facilities with capital costs up to $500 million.

ipVA consultant Mike Barlow awarded OBE for services in IP
Dr. Mike Barlow, former Head of BP International’s Global Patents and Technology Law group and an ipVA consultant, was awarded on OBE for his services to intellectual property.
Dr. Mike Barlow, former Head of BP International’s Global Patents and Technology Law group and an ipVA consultant, was awarded on OBE for his services to intellectual property.
Of Mike's many achievements, he led BP’s patenting activity and the IP due diligence and contract negotiations around all of its significant commercial transactions for over 13 years, including the mergers or acquisitions of Amoco, Arco, Burmah Castrol and Veba Oil and the divestiture of BP’s $8bn commodity petrochemicals business to Ineos. He is a past President of the IP Federation (the UK’s principal Industry IP body) and is currently a Vice President and Chair of its Patents Committee. Until recently he was Chair of the European Chemical Industry’s IP Task Force and a Council member of The Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys in the UK. Mike was a co-author of the 2003 Royal Society study on the effect of IP on science and continues to advise the UK government on patent policy both nationally and internationally. ipVA congratulates Mike on this significant achievement and wishes him the best in 2010.
Mike's works with ipVA as a consultant and specialises in IP strategy and IP due diliigence, primarily in the areas of chemical, clean energy, and oil and gas exploration, production, and refining industries.
