Team
Geoff is a licensing and venture development consultant with ipVA. Geoff specialises in technology transfer, intellectual property litigation support and the conceptual / feasibility stages of the development of capital investment projects. He is experienced in the technical aspects of technology licensing, in trade secret and patent litigation in the USA and UK and in major joint venture project development and appraisal.
A chemical engineer by training, Geoff gained his first experience of licensing with UOP, a licensor to the oil industry, in the early 1980s before setting up and then managing the technology transfer from BP Chemicals’ polyethylene licensing business to licensees worldwide. Geoff then led R&D teams in France before representing BP Chemicals with potential joint venture partners on conceptual and feasibility studies of $1bn petrochemical investment opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa. Geoff returned to the licensing business team in the early 2000s to support the legal team on a technology-related litigation and to improve internal business processes. Since leaving BP in 2005, Geoff has consulted on Middle East venture development and played a key role in the development of technical defences in a $150million trade secret litigation.
Joining ipVA in 2011, Geoff brings in-depth understanding of the challenges of successful technology transfer between companies, together with a broad understanding of technology licensing, intellectual property litigation and capital venture development.
