Kevin Nash

Kevin Nash is an attorney and a consultant with ipVA. For over 20 years, his practice has focused on multiple aspects of IP law and practice, including litigation, licensing and IP consulting; and he has worked for clients in a broad spectrum of technologies including electronics, telecommunications, oil production, and metallurgy. He received a LLB from the University of Wales and a postgraduate law degree from the University of Oxford. He is a member of Middle Temple and a barrister-at-law in England and Wales.  Since 1986, he has practiced primarily in the United States and has been admitted as an attorney in New York, California and Texas.
As a partner in the litigation section of a large Dallas-based law firm, Kevin has represented a number of major clients in numerous United States IP lawsuits – both at trial level and on appeal.  Representative clients include American Airlines (computer software copyright for the SABRE system), BancTec (patent software litigation), Ericsson (patent litigation relating to digital cellular technology), Gateway Technologies, Inc., Advanced Display Systems (patent litigation involving liquid crystal displays), and Compression Labs, Inc. (patent litigation involving videoconferencing systems).

More recently, Kevin has focused his practice on IP consultation, working with clients to create effective and reliable IP infrastructures and protections.  In particular, he has worked extensively with one major industrial company to reappraise its IP structure at every level, including developing IP, protecting it and enforcing it.  In this capacity, he has been responsible for the introduction of a series of innovative IP strategies designed to stimulate the growth of IP (particularly patents) by increasing awareness of the value of IP, to implement global strategies (including the placement of key patent counsel) for strengthening patent protection, and to introduce more effective guidelines for protecting trade secrets.  He has also created an IP training program, including an IP workshop, which he has presented to senior level employees at branches in Europe and the United States.

A third aspect of Kevin’s IP practice involves transactional work. In this capacity, he has been the architect of a number of licensing and joint development agreements for a number of clients both in the United States and Europe.

Kevin is fluent in French and German and has a good working knowledge of Italian, Spanish and Dutch.
