Martin Howard is a licensing strategist and consultant with ipVA. Martin specialises in all aspects of technology development and commercialisation, particularly where the route to market involves licensing and IP management. He is experienced in the areas of technology valuation and transfer, licence negotiation and international commercial strategy, and has been actively involved in building licensing businesses across the globe.
From 1987 to 2000, Martin held senior management positions with BP Chemicals, including Business Unit Leader of the Innovene licensing business and as a member of the Petrochemical Division Board and as Chairman of BP Chemicals' largest R+D facility based in France. Through these and other senior positions at BP, Martin was heavily involved in global technology research and development, all aspects of licensing, process design, project management, and commissioning of facilities with capital values up to $500 million. Since 2000 Martin has consulted widely with a range of international companies in Europe, the USA and Australia.
Martin brings with him deep experience on evaluating market trends, selecting and training personnel, building teams, establishing and delivering R+D and business goals, and building both informal and contractual relationships with customers, partners, and international contractors.
