Stephen Dix

Stephen is a Director and lead consultant with ipVA and leads business development across all sectors. He brings with him years of experience at large companies operating in global markets, with expertise in acquisitions, restructuring, and integrating companies and lines of business.

Stephen has worked in leadership roles in the telecommunications, technology services and outsourcing sectors for companies including British Telecom, Cable & Wireless International, Hong Kong Telecom, and IDC Japan.   He has also been responsible for the foundation or management of a number of smaller companies in Europe, Asia and the USA.

Key accomplishments include:

  • A leading role in the acquisition of IDC – the first successful foreign-led hostile takeover in Japan. The takeover exceeded all growth, margin, and customer satisfaction targets for the following three years.
  • Board member of £730 million turnover Telco/IP Company in Japan, with personal P&L responsibility for £159 million and 300+ staff in 10 countries (7 in Asia). Delivered 12% increase in gross margin while in the position.
  • Won licences and launched new businesses in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia that delivered £15 million in incremental EBITDA in the first year.
  • General Manager of a Hong Kong based joint venture that developed and launched a bespoke B2B multi-bank, multi-currency letter of credit exchange for a large international bank with 66,000 simultaneous users and an annual operating budget of $20 million.
  • Created and profitably ran a proactive bid, technical, and project management team of 60 consultants winning and delivering service in 27 countries.
